The Interview Series - #4: Golden Glow

I've been waiting a long time to post this interview, I'm afraid my Gmail account went down FOR AGES and I've only just been able to get poor Lisa's content this morning - PHEW!

This is the last installment in my "The Interview" series and I'm delighted to introduce the wonderful Lisa from Golden Glow.

She posts a huge amount of detailed and helpful beauty reviews with hints and tips to get the most out of both high end and high street brands! She's absolutely stunning and knows exactly how to answer those questions we've been burning to ask about the lastest new products!

1:  When did you start your blog, and where does the blog name come from?
I'm not sure exactly when I started my blog because I'm terrible with dates but it must of been around 7-8 months ago. Strangely enough my blog name came from a Boots Natural Collection Bronzer, I've always had a very limited imagination so I decided to get inspiration from my cosmetics. When I saw 'Golden Glow' printed on the back I instantly thought it should be my Blog name because I'm always covered in self tanner and claim to have a 'Golden Glow'.

2: What would you say the mission of your blog is? Are there any particular things you find difficult about the blogging community?
I don't really have a mission for my blog, I created it because I'd been following others for a long time and with the large amount of cosmetics I had I thought others might be interested in reading what my thoughts were. I've never really set myself a target for the amount of followers I want to finally gain or aimed to make a difference with my blog. I've not found there to be any difficulties with the blogging community, I know a lot of people have a bit of a tough time with negative comments but I've never experienced this myself.

3: If someone was interested in blogging, what tips would give them?
Blog because you want to and about what you want, not what you think others want to read.
Try and stick with a cute, simplistic layout that's easy for people to navigate.
If you can, try and use a camera that produces good quality pictures. Clear, detailed photos always attract me to peoples blogs.
Comment on other peoples posts, you'd be surprised at how nice people are. A few comments later and they'll be following you back, recommending your blog to others and helping you gain a few followers.

4: Where are you based?
In Essex.

5:  Which item in your wardrobe or cosmetic cabinet, could you not stand to part with, ever?
I could never part with my St.Moriz self tanner. It still amazes me every time I apply this product how much better it makes me feel about myself!

6: What’s your golden piece of shopping advice?
Never shop with boys, ever. They get bored easily and hurry you along. Shop with your mum if she's patient, friends who enjoy having a slow wander and don't mind trying clothing on or by yourself.

7: In your opinion, every woman should own:
A red lipstick.

8: If you had to choose one mantra for life, which everyone should live by, what would it be?
'Live The Life You Imagined' - This just means to me that whether you imagined yourself settled down with a lovely man and children or as a high-paid working women, go out and make the effort to achieve what you want in life. Don't settle.

9: Do you have an idol/Role model? Somebody who you look up to?
Not anyone in particular. I admire people that work hard.

10: Finally, what’s your favourite animal?
Orca Whales strangely enough! Ever since I saw Free Willy I've wanted to go and see them in real life.

When you have a few minutes spare, have a mosey on over to "Golden Glow".

30 Before 30

I've been meaning to do this for a while. I'm constantly saying "one day, I'll do that" or "one day, that'll be me!", so I thought I'd write all these silly trivial little things down to form some kind of a challenge for myself.

30 is currently 9 (and a bit) years away, plenty of time to get saving and start crossing things off my list. Many are probably far too big for me to complete, but I'm going to try my damn hardest!!!

The lovely Sofia has created her "30 before 30" list too, I found hers after I'd made my own list and thought it was too good not to share - check it out!!

Batista's Diary: Best Toy EVER!

Hi again guys,

Look what Mummy got for us yesterday - a SEE-SAW!!!!!!!!!! This is officially the best toy ever. We've been playing on it non stop and it's so much fun! I'm sure we'll be too big to fit through the ends soon though...

In other news - at 10 weeks, I'm now big enough to join my 13 week old sister on the window sills - yay! We like watching the birds!

We feel bad today, this morning Mummy tried to pick us both up to feed us and we thought she was playing... we were having a funny five minutes you see, nan calls it "wind up our tails", she's injured.... check out the scratches - we're tiny but our claws are like knives!!!

Batista's Diary: Our Forever Home

The time has finally come, me and my beloved (but rather naughty) sister Tips are at our new home with mummy!

(Thats me on the left...)

We've been home since Saturday afternoon. Man oh man, it's been a rollercoaster!

At first, we wouldn't let anybody go near us, especially me - I'm too tiny you see. Me and Tips would run away with any sudden movements and HATED it when mummy tried to catch us for dinner and bed time! Meanies!

Were getting better. Been home for 3 days now and we love it!

There've been some bumps along the way... Mummy had to buy a new wardrobe because my sister taught me how to climb up their canvas one and sleep at the top. It was a bit wobbly and I'm not as big as my sister so I couldn't get down without the parents' help! Silly me!

We've not had a single 'accident' and are very talented when it comes to using the litter tray (mum said I shouldn't tell you about my toilet habits but I don't care) and we now come running when we hear our food being put down - YUM!!!

There's been lots of mischief but were all settled! When were not running after eachother like lunatics, beating eachother up (or should I say, me beating Tips up. Doesn't matter that she's my big sister - I'm THE BOSS!) or trying to tear the cushions to pieces, were sleeping!
Mummy keeps taking pictures though!!
It's embarrassing, especially when we get all comfy and look silly!

We like to sit and watch mummy make cups of tea, my favourite part is when the kettle pings... It makes me all mental!!

More sleepy pictures - god sake mum!!!

So glad mummy has stayed home with us for a few days (apart from the embarrassing picture part) we're relaxed now and maybe we'll be ok when she goes back to work.

She keeps worrying that we'll hurt ourselves while she's out, and that our play fighting is too rough (I did get a little scratch from Tips today, made mummy cry and phone the vet. She panicked, silly lady! I'm fine I tell you!!!!) but it's all normal, we like to mess about and fly around the house!!!

Anyway...

Were getting braver by the day and have had lots of visitors, people talk to us in baby voices and they sound silly - it's because were the cutest babies ever right?! They all take the mickey out of Tips' tash - funny huh?

Tips likes to sit with mummy now, I'm still not brave enough yet so just sleep next to them instead!

Mummy wants me to apologise for the long and picture heavy post - I just wanted to let you know that were home and settled now. Many more posts to come I'm sure!! Here are some more snaps of us, I'll speak to you soon!!!

Batista's Diary: Poor Tips

Hello again Everybody, I hope you're all ok!

I've not written in my diary for a little while, I think it's about time you had an update!

Mummy came to visit last week, she took Tips away in a big white box... it was filled with comfy looking pink blankets and treats, it looked exciting! I think they were taking her to something called a vet? For something called a jab?

Mr Vet Man said that Tips was a very good girl and didn't cry once (although Mummy wasn't so brave... she was a big wuss!!), although, Tips wasn't impressed when she got home and went straight upstairs to sulk with me and our other sisters... Apparently the "jab" isn't very nice -- I'd like to see Mum trying to get me into that box when it's my turn!!!

Tips is almost 11 weeks of age now (what an old fogie), even though she's old enough to go to her "forever home", she's staying with me and aunty Emma until I'm 8 weeks old (only 3 days to go YAY!)... at least this means we can stay together, I'd miss her if she left and I'm sure she'd be lonely! Won't be so scary when we're together!

Here she is, she's still teeny weeny, but not quite as teeny weeny as me!

It's only 4 days until we're allowed to go home with Mummy, she's coming to pick us up on Saturday, at 12. I hear she has lots of treats and toys for us -- how sad, she's put our beds and bowls out already -- silly human!!

Mum is extremely excited, she told us all about the new scratching posts she's got for us both and how we've got pretty pink collars for when we're older!

Not long to go now, luckily Mum has to go to a conference on Thursday and Friday so the time will pass quickly for her. Until Saturday, I'll be concentrating on ruining Aunty Emma's brand new sofas and learning how to climb up the curtains - such fun!!!!

Mummy recorded a video of me... You can see Tips running round in the background! Here you go -- "click me"
